ABOUTNOTHING
LUKE LEVANDUSKY
(Lead vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards, piano, sitar)
Some say his shyness has been the only thing keeping him from a great spotlight. Yet every time Luke comes out of the shadows and shares his vulnerability through his songs, his raspy voice and affective style win over new admirers. And, to think that his musical career nearly never got off the ground.
In his earliest years a near fatal illness prompted his mother to quit her job to nurse Luke back to health. He grew up feebly, solitarily and rarely speaking but beneath his quiet demeanour was a world of vivid imagination and prophetic dreams. Ironically, singing onstage in front of large audiences was one of them.
Listening and re-listening to his parent's vinyl records eventually gave way to a particular fascination with Canadian rockers Bryan Adams and Corey Hart's trademark voices before embracing sounds of top world-pleasing bands such as Radiohead, Coldplay, Sigur Ros, the Verve, and the likes. By his mid-teens, inspiration materialized into a surge of musical education that included flute, guitar, and piano. Writers like Arthur Rimbaud, Jim Morrison and Bob Dylan became invisible mentors of primal poetry that always sought to understand the misunderstood. An undeniably unique voice came out of hiding and became the final piece of the puzzle. Flood-gates were raised and innumerable songs poured spinning tales of love, loss, and the quest for true self but for years still only revealed in the comfort of his small room.
Two days after graduating from University, he packed his bags and left to pave his own path on an unforgettable year of soul-searching in India, Pakistan and Nepal. Incessant illnesses, near-death experiences and incredible encounters reconnected him to life's true vein where Buddhism helped strip away the pressures & excuses to expose the faint voice behind a greater purpose which had been suppressed for too long.
They say the only way to vanquish fear is to face it and Luke did just that when he returned home to Canada. He shook his shyness into submission by reluctantly making solo appearances at open-mics in the dead of night and went on to form the band we know today.
Now backed by a loyal team of friends, Luke aims for the heart of every song by striking the deepest chord of sincerity. His unassuming melodies and lyrics speak for themselves and have everything to prove. Crowd-favourites like 'Black Socks' , 'Dazzle', and 'Fever' entrance; ‘Confused’, ‘Hey-Hey’ and ‘Requiem’ purge; while others like 'Piano', ‘Nothing’ and 'Fingers of Heaven' mesmerize with notions of existentialism.
