01.02.2010

Fans- To you who have bought Nothing's debut CD, tuned-in to hear us on the radio, followed us online, watched our videos, or seen us perform in 2009… you make this crazy dream worthwhile. We wish every one of you a great start to this new year and look forward to seeing & moving you in 2010.

Live 88.5FM- It’s well known that the music industry is a tough nut to crack. But once in awhile a lucky band gets a break. Live 88.5fm was that mogul that chose to believe in our seed and helped it grow. Nothing was among hundreds of Ottawa bands hand-picked to compete in this year’s Big Money Shot competition last October. Nothing came shy of progressing to the final round but the contest reinforced convictions of earning the throne someday and will forever be indebted to Live for the chance to compete among the best. To Noah Sabourin for your sincere encouragement/support, to Chelsea Miller and Jen Traplin for playing our tracks and promoting our shows, to Lee Wagner for raising hundreds of thousands in development money for the BMS + setting up invaluable workshops, to Jamie Clark for your assistance, and everyone else at Live 88.5fm… we salute you.

Live Lounge/Eric Wehrle- The Live Lounge became like a second home to Nothing thanks to its booking manager and sound wizard- Eric Wehrle- who graciously gave Nothing one of its first live shows in 2009 and who’s audio genius makes it a true pleasure to perform. To Eric and the entire Live Lounge staff, please accept our warmest thanks.

Elephant & Castle pub/ Joel Martin - Thank you Joel for the creative environment created at your open mics and honouring Nothing with both a Band of the Week and a Band of the Month awards in early 2009. The Castle became an ideal break from the recording studio and a perfect playground to try out new material.

Canoe FM /Mike “The Music-man”- All firsts leave a special mark. There is no exception here when Canoe FM became the first radio station in Canada to play Nothing on the airwaves and caught Luke by surprised when he heard his own voice singing back at him while driving to his relatives’ cottage in Haliburton, Ontario. Thank you.

Other mentions- Ben Larabie for your loving labour in mixing and mastering the band’s beloved debut CD- you make dreams come true; Chacken Girl for your love and countless hours in creating our website; Sen Rasaratnam for your bottomless kindness and welcomed web-care; Eric Lefebvre- your spunk and ability to coax Luke’s shyness to a larger stage will never be forgotten; Rose McCarty for your indefatigable outpour of positive energy; Bambi Blue, who’s article was published in October 2008, still garners gratitude for proclaiming Nothing as Trans-Canada Radio’s Band of the Week; Anil Jhalli and Ashley Kulp for writing generous articles in your newspaper; Paul Pettinella for the awesome licks and band contributions; Vince Merpaw and Gilda’s Club for filming Nothing’s first television commercial and the chance to support noble cause.
