ABOUTNOTHING
TIM PETTIPIECE
Lead Guitar
Born in southern Ontario, Tim started secretly playing his older brother’s guitar in grade 7 until he acquired a beat-up imitation Les Paul from his uncle. For the next several years he practiced relentlessly, cutting his musical teeth on a steady diet of classic and progressive rock streaming from nearby Detroit radio. His first band, the Venus Pigeons, would go on to record two independent lo-fi cassettes of early-90s CanRock. At the same time, he began exploring more remote sonic territories through several experimental ambient projects.
Five years ago, after a long musical hiatus through university and grad school, Tim resurfaced in the Ottawa music scene, playing with bands such as the Ashby Corner Experience, Minnetonka, Surrender Dorothy, Mourning Stars, and of course NOTHING. Most recently, recording under the name TIMOTHEOS, he independently released an album of experimental ambient music called Hierosolyma.
Within the context of NOTHING, Tim strives to compliment and colour the band’s highly accessible and evocative songs with a wide range of atmospheric textures and soaring melodies. This, when combined with the dynamic range of the other players, results in an engaging and memorable musical experience.
